This week, Chautauqua had the pleasure of interviewing Fred Zirm about his recent poetry chapbook, Object Lessons. He is a poet, author, playwright, and retired teacher with over forty years of experience in the classroom and on the stage. His relationship with Chautauqua Institution began in the summer of 1998, when he first attended Chautauqua Writer's Center courses. Fred became president of Chautauqua Literary Arts Friends in 2016 and assumed the role of Acting Director of the Writer's Center. As you will learn in this poignant interview, his poems find unique and simple entry points to complex subjects, and to hear them in the author's voice is a delightful experience.
